No Budget Staged Photography
[2 day workshop]

What does an artist need to produce strong staged photography? Expensive camera equipment? Special light sources? Assistants? Actors? Set designers? Make-up? No! Just a good eye, intuition and a personal understanding of one‘s subject.

Hijacking Reality is a creativity workshop, not a technology workshop. Hijacking Reality is the rediscovery of playfulness. Hijacking Reality is creative directing, set and lighting design – on a shoestring budget. During the course you will learn how to enhance your creative imagination and develop strategies to break conventional rules and leave with images that you may have thought were never possible.

The workshop totally fulfilled my expectations: it was focusing on creative side of photographic process starting from the definition of the concept, finding ways of its implementation till selection and analysis of the results. The teacher was always initiative and ready to help. . The atmosphere of the workshop was friendly and fun!

Playfulness and visual fantasy beyond the conventional photo playground opens up another view for active photography. Boris accompanied and encouraged, gave many impulses to dive into Hijacking Reality.

Boris is the first photographer I have met that did not assume that he knew more than us! Together with his study of philosophy and photography, his class was literally a mind opening weekend of imagination and experimentation! What was good about these techniques, is that I can apply them to my current projects.

    Marylou Zuzarte | Berlin 2017

What a great experience this was, from a photographic, artistic, group and teacher’s point of view. All of us created surprising images to not only enrich our current portfolios but also inspire future work. Techniques and playfulness adopted for good! Boris is the master of his students’ “hijacking reality disasters” and guides, supports and constructively criticises photographic output in a clear and pleasant way. Also, he introduced a philosophical dimension which was unexpected and highly appreciated. Thank you again!

Superklasse!

If I had only known a few years ago what I learned during the weekend! It would have made a great difference to at least 2 of my recent projects. Better late than never though.
I really appreciate Boris as a teacher; he’s very knowledgeable and structured. He was also very engaged during the whole process.

    Fredrik Norberg | Berlin 2016
