To be an artist, to live out a commitment to art, does this not also mean to be a practicing believer, a monk, to operate with the goal of giving new meaning to one’s own life and those of others? Does art know the answer to the question: What Happened to God? In this exhibition fifteen artists are tracing the fascination and contradictions of faith and religion and their earthly and heavenly manifestations.

ACC Weimar showed new photographs from ‘THE POEMS’ alongside the video work THE SCHOOL OF MAGIC (the promise). ‘What Happened to God?’ also featured works by BORIS + NATASCHA.

Bewegend, weil nahezu unbewegt: Boris Eldagsens Videoarbeit „THE SCHOOL OF MAGIC (The Promise)“. Anfangs geht der Betrachter von einer Fotografie aus, bis er vielleicht ein Zwinkern und dann ausnehmend langsame Bewegungen bemerkt. Schauspielerin Sandra Hüller steht regungslos und nackt vor einem roten Vorhang, blickt ins Licht, mit bittender Gebärde. Gerade die Langsamkeit der Bewegung macht das Betrachten so intensiv. Von den Bildern geht eine unheimliche suggestive Kraft aus, die die Szene nahezu real erscheinen lässt. Ein Sich-Verlieren im Moment.
