ROOT 1066 is an international festival across East Sussex.

2016 marks the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings and William the Conqueror’s invasion of England – events which changed the course of history. With new works commissioned from national and international artists, the ROOT 1066 International Festival promises to bring innovative and fresh perspectives on the history and legacy of 1066.

Commissioned by Hastings Borough Council and supported by Arts Council England, the festival builds on the creative energy of one of the most exciting parts of the country. With its world-class cultural venues, year-round festivals and eclectic arts scene, Hastings and 1066 Country in East Sussex has a growing reputation as a cultural hotspot for outstanding contemporary arts.

A New Language is a group exhibition under the umbrella of ROOT 1066, curated by Christopher Winter. An international group of artists explore the language shift and cultural changes instigated by the invasion of 1066. The exhibition investigates themes of acceptance, alienation and displacement in foreign culture; themes that are very relevant today.

I am happy to show some of the POEMS there and the Oscar Wilde ORACLE of my collaborative work with Natascha Stellmach.
